How we make money

Last updated: 29 September 2026

Magic Prices is free for you to use. Somebody still has to pay for it. This page explains where our money comes from, and what it does not change about the way we rank offers.

Offers are listed by price, lowest first, and nothing commercial enters that ordering. The price used is the item price. Delivery is charged separately by the retailer at the checkout, so check the total there before you order. Money reaching us never changes the order.

Commission on sales

This is how we are funded. When you use “View Offer” and go on to buy from the retailer, that retailer pays us a commission on the sale. The rate varies by product category, and runs between 1% and 8% of the purchase price.

The commission is paid by the retailer, not by you. Nothing is added to your bill: the price you pay is the price shown on the retailer’s own site, exactly as it would be if you had gone there directly.

Whether or not we earn a commission from a retailer makes no difference to where that retailer appears. Where the cheapest offer comes from a retailer that earns us nothing, that offer is the one shown first. No exceptions.

Promo codes

We publish promo codes to help you save a little more. The codes come from the retailers themselves, and when one is used it may earn us a commission in the same way an ordinary sale does. It makes no difference to what you pay: the price and the discount are both the retailer’s.

Display advertising

Some pages may carry advertising banners. Where they do, they are identified as advertising and kept separate from editorial content: product pages, rankings and reviews. No advertiser can influence a ranking or a recommendation, and no advertising arrangement changes the order in which offers appear.

What we don’t do

  • Sell a better position in the ranking. No retailer can pay to move up.
  • Charge retailers to be listed. There is no joining fee, no monthly charge and no listing fee.
  • Change a displayed price. The price is the retailer’s, not ours.
  • Sell personal data to anyone.
  • Remove a negative review because a retailer asked us to.

The detail is all on our Methodology page: how we choose the retailers we list, how offers are ranked and how we check what we show you.
