A 2006 release. The original Tommy on the bridge was a blind beggar who stood on the swing bridge. His real name was Thomas Ferens and he was thought to have been born in The Close in 1842. He died on New Year's Day in 1907, after collapsing in the snow at the Gateshead end of the bridge.
