Product Information
Buddy Morrow in the 1950's enjoyed his place in the sun leading a popular, stylish dance band that made a big impression on the popular music of the day. This success came after years of hard graft as a lead trombonist and featured soloist. Achieving only a measure of popularity with the public, the band needed a hit record and with the making of Night Train Buddy hit the jackpot. Shuffle Off To Buffalo, Prelude To A Kiss, and Speak Low are all well played and indicate that, even with a different personnel, high musical standards were maintained.Shaghai is sung by Frankie Lester, he was a long-time member of the Morrow organisation and invariably handled the rhythm numbers. Equally entertaining is his vocal on Re-enlistment Blues .One Mint Julep, recorded in July 1952, three months after Night Train, has the same rhythm-and-blues feel and this successful formula characterised several more Morrow recordings in later years. Buddy Morrow made a significant contribution to popular dance music.
