David Rose was one of the most admired and characteristic mainstream instrumental pop composers of the '40s, '50s and '60s and rightly deserved the moniker 'King of the Strings'.
This set contains his orchestral hits: 'Love Is a Many Splendored Thing', 'Holiday for Trombones', 'Calypso Melody', 'Swinging Shepherd Blues' and his hit recording with Andre Previn 'Like Young'. Also thrown in for good measure is his multimillion seller 'Holiday for Strings' of which we feature his 1943 and 1955 versions no less!
When listening to this 2CD collection you will be listening to some of his best orchestral work of the '50s filled with soaring strings, singing woodwinds and magical brass combining to wonderful effect!
