Product Information
Although Jimmie Rodgers is regarded as the Father of Country Music, his premature death at the age of 35 in 1933 meant that the banner he unfurled had to be waved by others, not least Ernest Tubb - and what a flag-waver for Country music he proved to be, through fifty years until his death in 1984. Born in 1914, Tubb did not start playing guitar until aged twenty, and then proceeded to become a formidable singing and writing talent. Elected to the Grand Ole Opry in 1943, Tubb compered many a show, as well as fronting his own Midnight Jamboree broadcasts from the record shop he started in Nashville in 1947. With the support of his band, The Texas Troubadours, who better then to compere this choice Country collection ?
