Product Information
If Kay Kyser himself had written these liner notes it is more than likely he would have greeted us with the words, Evenin' folks, how y'all? Delivered in his slow, Southern drawl the greeting signalled the start of his hugely popular College of Musical Knowledge radio show networked across America in the late 1930s. It was said that President Franklin D. Roosevelt, with his regular 'radio chats' to the nation introduced with the words My friends, and Kay Kyser's familiar tones, were the two most welcome voices on the air. Kyser's natural, friendly charm, his vibrant personality and strength of purpose were always his greatest assets, exceeding his modest musical ability. It was those personal qualities, allied to a gift for showmanship and presentation, that led to Kay fronting one of the most popular orchestras in America.
