Product Information

Formed in 1969 by guitarist Leslie West and bass player and Cream
producer Felix Pappalardi, Mountain also initially comprised a line-up
that featured Steve Knight (Keyboards) and N.D. Smart (Drums). Prior to
securing a recording contract, the band made an impressive impact at the
Woodstock Festival in August of that year. Soon after this appearance
N.D. Smart was replaced on drums by Corky Laing and Mountain began their
recording career with their debut album CLIMBING , issued in March
1970. Featuring such classic tracks as Mississippi Queen , For Yasgur’s
Farm and a cover of Jack Bruce s Theme from an Imaginary Western ,
Mountain established their hallmark sound of powerful rock combined with
a more subtle side.
