The first articulated tank cars were built in the early 1990s on behalf of the wagon rental company KVG. Built in modern lightweight steel construction, the tank halves, which are inclined downwards by 3 degrees, enable the greatest possible residual emptying of the transported goods, such as mineral oils, gasoline, diesel, and the like. Suitable for higher speeds, the wagons were soon included in the fleet of other companies throughout Europe. Most of the time, the wagons are used as private wagons in the special freight wagon fleets of the respective state railroads. They can be found on the rails all over Europe.
