Jasmine Records Tubby HAYES - Blue Hayes - The Tempo Anthology + Live from Torrington 1969 CD
Product Information
Until recently it would have been possible to argue that the music of the late Tubby Hayes was in very real danger of falling permanently into the worst kind of limbo that can befall the output of any creative jazz artist; that of being often talked about but seldom actually heard. Indeed, despite still being widely regarded as "England's Greatest Modern Jazz Musician" Hayes was poorly served during the initial reissue boom heralded by the invention of the compact disc. Happily that lamentable situation has now been rectified; first, by the appearance on CD of several radio broadcast sessions by Tubby's mid-to-Iate-sixties bands; second, by two long overdue reissues of his Fontana recordings; and, third, by far the most important, with the return to currency of his 1950's work for the TEMPO record label, available on several JASMINE compact disc releases. Without the availability of the TEMPO sessions, a broad overview of Tubby Hayes work has been difficult to undertake, especially where the development of his massive abilities in their formative years in concerned.
