Clearly, his own style would have been influenced by many sources - in many parts of North America, unlike Britain, guitarists of differing skills were relatively common - but perhaps the influence of the Twentieth Century’s most original jazz guitarist, Django Reinhardt, is discernible on titles like Stompin’ At The Savoy. Whatever, Arthur Smith has earned himself a unique place in Country music.
