Product Information
Paul Jones – wasn’t he in…? Well yes he was, but
then Paul Jones is also familiar through his acting in films, musicals
and the theatre, regular broadcasts on the TV and Radio (Paul currently
hosts a weekly r’n’b show for both Jazz FM and Radio 2, the latter
having just celebrated its own tenth anniversary), plus his continuing
pop work. With a career spanning some 30 years, Paul’s popularity
has never waned. Interest in Manfred Mann has been renewed by a reunion
of the band’s classic line-up, itself sparked by a TV advertised “Best
Of”. Jones also fronts The Blues Band, who continue to tour and record
on a regular basis as they have since their formation in 1979. Most
areas of Paul’s musical work are well covered on CD, except for one
major gap – that of Paul Jones’ solo career. Between 1966 and 1971 Jones
cut a series of excellent solo albums – “My Way”, “Love Me Love My
Friends”, “Come Into My Musical Box” and “Crucifix In A Horseshoe” – and
singles. RPM felt it was “High Time” this missing area of Paul’s career
was made available again. This CD includes the 1966 solo album
“MY WAY”, which featured Paul’s first big hit “High Time”. The album
found Paul taking some of the Manfred’s jazz tinged r’n’b/soul feel and
moving into a poppier vein, with the hit single giving the good-looking
Jones immediate Pin Up status. The bonus CD cuts are three non albums
single sides, two previously unissued tracks, and all four tracks from
the chart EP “Privilege”, which include the hit “I’ve Been A Bad Bad
Boy” and the rare “(My Heart Is Surely) Breaking”, not available
elsewhere.
